TO ORDER
The
Conference Meeting of the Mine Hill Township Board of Education was called =
to
order at 7:30 pm on September 14, 2009 by the Board President, Mary Jo Wali=
lko.
The New Jersey Open Public Meetings Law was enac=
ted to
insure the right of the public to have advance notice of and to attend the
meetings of public bodies at which any business affecting their interests is
discussed and acted upon. In
accordance with the provisions of this act, the Mine Hill Board of Education
has caused notice of this meeting to be sent to the Daily Record on =
April
28, 2009, posted on the bulletin board in the

A letter from Paul Breda in regards to the Mine Hill Educational
Foundation was read into the record by Board President Mary Jo Walilko.

A letter from the Mine Hill Educational Foundation in regards to
“America Reads/America Counts” was discussed by the Board. Dr. Palestis will follow up.

Dr. Palestis and Mrs. Walilko presented a
plaque to Heather Hardin and her parents.&=

Heather was recognized as the “AAA Traffic Safety Poster
Award” state winner.

Dr. Palestis thanked the Board for their
support of his appointment as the interim superintendent. He remarked that he is thrilled to=

back in Mine Hill and looks forward to working with the Board, staff, commu=

and children.

Katzenbach, our liaison from the Township Council, indicated that the cross=
ing
guard will remain. The Counci=
l is
addressing additional strategies to enhance student safety.

Sam Morris =
of the
Mine Hill Educational Foundation indicated that 127 students are enrolled in
Canfield Kids. The P-3 Progra=
m has
23 enrolled. The new curricul=
um is
now in place and they want to conduct a presentation in regards to a Pre-K
partnership.

would like to conduct a “dedication” of the ball field. Mrs. Walilko indicated that she an=

review, the Superintendent recommends a reorganization of the support staff
structure within the Business Office of the District;

of the Superintendent that, for reasons of economy, efficiency, change in t=

structure of the Business Office, and other good cause, that the following

distributed at Back to School Night that reviews marking periods and
